The travel and tourism sector has been decimated by the pandemic. We, the people, have also changed the way we look at travel. We’ll start to be tourists in our own city, as we feel more comfortable staying closer to home. We’re likely to do more domestic travelling. Think staycations and road trips.

Then there’s the travelling we can do from our own couches. Virtual tours of major stunners around the world are literally at our fingertips, from The Vatican in Rome, to the world’s largest cave, Hang Sơn Đoòng in Vietnam to the inspiration for James Cameron’s Avatar, Zhāngjiājiè national forest park in China.

As for international travel, it will be back. It’ll just be different.

Here are some predictions floating around about what travel will look like post-COVID-19.

Travel will be more inconvenient: We’ll have fewer options and some routes that were once nonstop will now require connections, perhaps by a circuitous route. Layovers in hubs could be longer.
